About This Dog

Hamish's ideal home

Hamish is a three-year-old crossbreed with a wonderfully sweet and delightfully goofy personality who approaches life with enthusiasm! This energetic lad would thrive with experienced, patient adopters who have the time and commitment to continue his training and help him build confidence in the world around him. A home with a garden would be ideal so he has space to stretch his legs and continue his house training, and he will need to live in a quieter residential or rural area where walks are calmer and less overwhelming. Hamish can be unsure around traffic and busier environments, so he will benefit from owners who are happy to take things at his pace and gradually build up his confidence. Because he is a strong, bouncy boy who is still learning his manners, he needs an adult-only home with sensible, physically capable owners - ideally two people - who can manage his strength, work on his lead skills, and help him develop good routines. He will also need owners who are around for most of the day, as being left alone is currently difficult for him and will need to be introduced slowly and carefully over time.

Could you be Hamish's perfect match?

Hamish absolutely adores his meals and treats, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience for him, though he would appreciate enrichment ideas that slow him down so he can savor mealtime. While he enjoys gentle fuss and will happily accept a stroke, Hamish often prefers to be off exploring and investigating. He can bound up to new people in the hope they might be carrying treats, but generally he’s quite independent and not overly people-focused. On walks he’s a powerful lad who currently pulls on the lead, but his love of food will be the best motivation for him to learn better manners with consistent guidance. Due to a past habit of destroying toys, he currently lives toy-free and his environment will need careful management around objects he might chew. For the right home, Hamish could be an entertaining, characterful companion. He’s such a big-hearted, food-loving goofball who will reward patience and understanding with plenty of laughs and the joy of watching him grow in confidence.
